Cats Named Pete are Cool

For those of you who have a 3-5 year old, know one, or teach them, then you need to know Pete the Cat. I’m guessing some of you know exactly who I’m talking about while others are like, “who names their cat Pete?” Let me just say that Pet the Cat is literally the coolest cat on the block with at least fourteen books to back him up. I was first introduced to this kitten during one of my education classes I took to get my Master’s degree. I have now been educated on this one of kind feline, and I’m hooked on these amazing books. The first book presented to me was about Pete the Cat and his love for his white shoes. The great thing about these books is that they are circular meaning it starts the same and essentially ends the same. They are great for repetition, and this particular book, Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, also teaches about color as well as recognizing that each person is different, but at the end of the day, “it’s all good”, and we can embrace our differences. You can check out these books at Barnes and Noble who is currently promoting the newest book, Pete the Cat: The Wheels on the Bus. When you buy any two books for kids, you can get this one for $4.99 until August 26. Be sure to check it out. I commend the author, James Dean and his wife Kimberly for writing fabulous books for preschool children. I will leave you with this video version of Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes. What is your kids’ favorite book? Be sure to share with us, and maybe I’ll do a review on your favorite pick soon!

Until next time,

It’s me, the bookworm

I’m Rebekah, and I absolutely love to read. I have a passion for reading, and I want to share my passion for reading. I believe it is important that we read to our children when they infants and encourage them to read on their own as they grow. As adults and parents, we can foster reading in the next generation by reading on our time. I believe reading is not only educational, but it helps us be creative. We can enjoy reading fascinating stories about real people or make believe families that seem real. My goal with this blog is to bring you books you can share with each member of your family. I will feature books that appropriate for many age levels as well as reading levels (yes, there is a difference). I will also talk about how to promote good reading habits for families. Along the way, I will share things about myself as well. Get ready, and I hope you find this blog to informative and exciting.
